1. Sit – Get comfortable with Twitter and start talking with people. Be friendly and respond to their questions and share some of your knowledge. Let them know you are a real person who knows your niche inside and out

2. Stay – Twitter will hang on to any messages or comments you get while you are away. There is no need to worry, when you get back, just check to see what you’ve missed. If it was something important, get back to that person right away, if not, just respond and they will see it when they return.

3. Rollover – ReTweets (RT) are common occurrences in Twitterland, say something worthwhile and your message will spread like wild fire. This is what they refer as ‘viral tweet’

4. Fetch – People who you add or who find you through other members are likely to check out your profile. If they see something they like, chances are they will contact you, so be sure to list your contact info or at least a link to your website where they can get in touch with you.

5. Shake – Seal the deal. Once you have interaction, introduce your product and how it can help those around you.

The biggest tip is to be yourself, otherwise you will be considered a spammer and your marketing efforts will be squelched. Interact first, then introduce. In fact, try not introducing your product for a month. After all, you wouldn’t want to automatically lose access to nearly 4 million people in one fell swoop, would you?

One last tip: Put some efforts to update your profile. Use it to your advantage by listing your website address and your expertise. You don’t want to miss this small important space – you might even get potential prospects through this.
